RTO & RPO

Central metrics in BCM: the RTO (Recovery Time Objective) defines the maximum time until recovery, the RPO (Recovery Point Objective) the maximum tolerable data loss.

RTO and RPO are the target values of your resilience strategy.

RTO: "How long can the system be gone?" (the time between outage and restart).

RPO: "How much work can be lost?" (the point of the last backup before the incident).

These values are defined for processes in the business impact analysis (BIA) and must be technically backed by IT measures such as backups and failover. In Kopexa you compare these target values directly with the actual performance of your assets to uncover gaps in your continuity planning.
